FAQ’s

First, fill in the contact form and send me the file (or a sample of text) that you would like me to work on. Please be specific as to what service you need, your deadline, the intended audience, and context of use of the file. Add any glossary, style guideline, or reference files that you’d like me to consider.

After analyzing your files, I’ll send over my quote together with any queries that I might have. If you agree with the budget and this is the first time we work together, I’ll request a down-payment of 25% of the total cost of the project.

Upon receipt of the down‑payment or confirmation of the project, I’ll begin compiling a corpus of parallel texts from which to extract terms and phraseology that are suited to the conventions of the text genre, the purpose of the text, and the target reader. I’ll also review glossaries, dictionaries, and resources relevant to the type of content.

If you file has an editable format, it will be translated in my CAT tool to ensure consistency of the terminology used throughout. Otherwise, I’ll either process it with an optical character recognition (OCR) software or translate it directly.

Finally, after proofreading the text and running a final quality check, I’ll send your files back via email. You’ll be given the opportunity to ask questions about specific linguistic choices and request any clarifications or minor changes.

I can usually translate around 2000 words per day, although this depends greatly on the subject matter, the file format, the number of images and tables included in the file, and other factors. As for reviewing, my standard daily turnaround is 5000 words, but this also varies according to the quality of the original translation and the number of changes required.

Any deadline involving a daily count greater than those described above, in addition to work on holidays, weekends, or out‑of‑office hours, will incur a rush surcharge of 20–40% on top of the base budget.

I charge on a per-word or hourly basis depending on the type of service required. The price of each service varies according to the complexity of the subject matter, the file format, and the desired deadline. I offer discounted rates for large‑volume projects with many repetitions. Very short projects incur a minimum fee of one hour.

Payments are to be issued in Euros via bank transfer or Paypal, within 45 days of invoice receipt. Please note that I’ll have to add a 21% tax to my invoice if you are based in a European country and are not a holder of a valid VAT number.
